Forgive Me For Asking | MMCO

Are you angry when the earth quakes?

If you’re anything like me or really anyone, you’ve thrown up that question.

Forgive me for asking God, but why is this happening?

There’s no fix or answers to this thing. People are out of work, families are stressed, kids are watching their parents elevated emotions be at an all time high and are wondering why they can’t go see their friends.

I can’t help but feel for everyone affected whether it’s from the virus itself or for those taking the punches of all the aftermath. People are hurt and we’re stock piling toilet paper? There’s threads with countless hateful comments on peoples opinions of how everyone should be reacting.  C’mon now.

Is it really that important for you to be heard right now… because you’re not going to be. I think it’s safe to say that every American is feeling something.

Nobody has the answer and that’s the concept that really needs grasped.

You can try and do those household chores and the honey-do list that you’ve had for over a year but that’s only going to take a couple of hours. There’s only so many Buzzfeed quizzes where you can find out which animal personality you’re most like.

I may be bored but I’m not -take a Buzzfeed quiz or download Tiktok- bored.

You’ll still have to deal with your brain after this is all over.

Have you thought back to your last normal moment? We all had a normal last moment without even knowing it. How utterly terrible is that! A lot of us are craving normalcy and attempting to take some sort of control. As Americans I think we’ve just grown up that way and so these rules are just not for us. They’re more for the characters in pandemic movies- where this thing belongs.

Maybe we’re meant to slow down, or maybe we aren’t. What’s sad is no one really knows what to do or the correct way to deal. If you were looking to read this and hear my answer, (which c’mon, have I really ever had an answer to anything?) I’ve got jack shit too.

There’s going to be a day, hopefully sooner rather than later, when we’re all just going about our day and will look around and think, “Hey this is kind of normal, fuck yeah!”

I think it’s important to say that you’re not lazy if you’re not tackling house projects or doing Instagram push up challenges. Was there some kind of memo we missed that says the correct way to deal? Unlikely but if you have it, feel free to share with the class.

I think hugs, handshakes and kisses are all going to mean something else when this is done. I hope people come out of this much more mentally stronger than they were before- and I also can’t wait for the great memes that are bound to follow. I’ve got no answer or advice either, just a girl in front of a computer sharing an opinion like everyone else.

Again God, forgive me for asking but I know I’m not the only one. I still trust You, can it just be summer already?

Stay safe and healthy whatever that looks like to you.

-Jordan
