I seriously haven’t bought or worn K-Swisses since the second grade.
Let’s all be honest here, it’s not like the K-Swiss brand pops into your head when you think about purchasing new footwear. Somewhere along the line K-Swiss got aligned with all white shoes and old people. They haven’t really (or at least done a good job at) targeting the Millennial or other generations!
Let me start from the beginning, I have been following this guy named Gary Vaynerchuk for a little over a year and a half now. I absolutely love his raw content. No sugar coating, no excuses, no hall passes- you want to be successful, you have to WORK! For those looking for a good podcast I highly recommend his or subscribe to his YouTube channel!
A couple months back while watching/listening to one of Gary’s episodes on YouTube, he talked about his recent collaboration with K-Swiss shoes. As you would imagine comments were pouring in about “selling out” and “ends up just like the rest of ’em” etc. I didn’t see it this way at all. Ya I laughed, like c’mon K-Swiss, really? Then I took a look at the bigger picture and realized it’s totally fitting! Gary has been an underdog somewhat his entire life, like him it’s where I personally feel the most comfortable. I like for people to count me out, to laugh and say “no.”
So this collaboration is nothing more than another jab and step to his bigger goals. He has “marketed” this right hook sale to me for months. Each day he is putting out content that’s relevant to me and that I actually have interest in. I bought them because I have such loyalty to Gary V. that I want to see him succeed as if he knew me, he’d want the same for me.
