That Whole “Social Media Thing”

Since I started this journey I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard business owners, friends of business owners, okay people, in general say I don’t really do “the whole socialsocial media thing media thing.” When said like this it totally sounds like the population is somehow diseased with the internet!

Don’t get me wrong I do think that in many cases the internet has caused more harm than good. In other cases, especially small businesses they are not using social media to their advantages and it’s costing them! Think about it, social media is the most affordable and effective way to meet and connect with potential clients. If you want to reach Raul from India and try to sell him a tennis ball- you can!(it’s the first thing that popped into my head, need more coffee…) Back to the point you can use highly targeted Facebook ads to reach that person or persons alike to make the sale.

There isn’t a “social media thing”, it’s not some fad or phase or just something all the kids are doing. If you’re a business owner I feel as though you also know this to be true. You know that you should be posting, tweeting and snapping on your social media channels but after you’ve clocked 17 hours, last thing you want to do is be “creative.” I get it. Nobody knows what it’s like to be a business owner until they’re head first into it. A fellow entrepreneur told me this quote just the other day…

“Being an entrepreneur is like jumping off a cliff and learning to build an airplane on the way down.”

Uh, hell yes- right?

There are opportunities out there that many people are just sitting on! JUMP! If you’re not sure how to use social media to your advantage, ask. If you don’t have the time, hire. (cough, cough, wink, wink!) It saddens me when I see such great companies with such good ideas falling short on delivering to their audiences!

So create, click and learn away everyone! Here’s to “that social media thing!”
